How to Transition a Sleeveless Dress into Spring

· · Comments

The days are getting longer and it's time to start thinking about pretty spring fashion. It's still a little chilly out, though, so how do you transition all the new sleeveless styles into spring without freezing your buns off?

Here are 4 ways to transition a sleeveless dress into spring featuring my Rose dress. (Psst, you can also use this trick when transitioning into fall).

1. Wear a thin top underneath

Basic, lightweight long sleeve tops are one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe. Whether crew neck, scoop neck, or turtleneck, they are a perfect basic to be built upon. I love wearing them under sleeveless dresses or when styling clients who don't like to show their arms. In this photo, I'm wearing the Joni Mesh turtleneck over my Rose Dress. The mesh fabric adds texture and interest to the look.

2. Wear a cardigan over the dress

The easiest way to transition a sleeveless dress out of colder weather is to layer a cardigan on top. Whether lightweight like my Bella Cardigan, long and dramatic like my Acacia Duster, or knitted and chunky like the sweater I'm wearing in this photo, cardigans are an easy way to show off your new dress while still covering your arms.

3. Wear a pullover sweater over the dress

Have you ever thought of wearing a sweater over a dress? It's a great way to make your dresses go the extra mile. Get the look of separates and expand the versatility of the dress. Here I'm wearing one of my Giorgia turtlenecks over the Rose dress. Tres chic!

4. Wear a scarf as a wrap with a belt

Want to incorporate a little color or pattern into an otherwise simple look? How about using a beautiful scarf as a wrap? Keep it in place by securing with a belt like I've done in the below photo. (Pro tip: leave the back of the scarf free for added movement) You can use a fancy silk scarf for an event or more upscale look or use a blanket scarf in a plaid or solid for a more casual look.
